So it”s true…

Here I am again…as a follow up to my last blog about my ancestry.
My second DNA test came back with basically the same results as the first. I am about 20 percent Native American. And after reaching out to some “new” family members the mystery remains as to how I have carry this DNA. In any event, I don’t have the 25% blood quantum required to register with a tribe or nation.
I have, however, researched family trees belonging to my DNA matches and have come up with some good possibilities as to who are probably my Native Americans ancestors were. At this point my best guess is I am part of the Oneida Nation originally from New York State but relocated to Wisconsin in the 1800’s.
My question, to myself, is, how do I honor my ancestry? Anyone that knows me knows that I love to travel. I especially like to learn more about the food culture of where I am traveling to and experience it through their food. So, why not learn more about the food of ancestors? My next several postings will be based on the that research. Hope you enjoy!
