Copenhagen is the capital and most populous city of Denmark. It known as a city of spires: church steeples and palace towers almost everywhere one looks. It is also known for its excellent quality of life and environmental consciousness. Lots of green spaces and bicycles everywhere. Like Amsterdam, it has canals weaving throughout its Old Town. Many tourist boats and recreational boats make for some very busy waterways.

During my short visit I did not have the chance to visit Tivoli Gardens, the third oldest operating amusement park in the world. It is located in downtown area, next to the central train station. Besides the many ‘carnival” rides, it also serve as a venue for various performing arts.

Copenhagen has one of the highest number of restaurants and bars per capita in the world. It has a thriving beer scene and its legal to drink beer out in public. Carlsberg beer is brewed here and was the perfect accompaniment to my lunch, an authentic Smorgasbord, which is a meal served buffet-style with multiple hot and cold dishes of various foods on a table. Such variety and so beautifully presented! Along with the various meats (including venison) there was smoked and pickled fish, many cheeses, tasty looking salads and lots of relishes.
